Frequently Asked Questions
General Information
MyMatR is a company focused on improving the waste disposal process. Our smart waste bins, the Coach and the Maestro, use vision capturing technology to educate, collect data, and correct waste at the source of disposal. Data collected from every bin can be viewed in real time on the MyMatR Portal.
Units capture waste type and deposit images, which sync to the MyMatR Portal when connectivity is available. Teams use those insights to track contamination, measure diversion, and improve day-to-day waste operations. Customers own their device-generated data. See the Portal and privacy FAQs for access, retention, and ownership details.
Yes. Customers configure bin behavior in the MyMatR Portal so units match their local recycling standards for accurate identification and sorting.
Results depend on waste volume, contamination levels, staffing, and hauler contracts. Most teams start by measuring contamination, diversion visibility in the Portal, and operational workload at the bin. We do not publish generic dollar savings or ROI guarantees. Contact us with your facility details and we can walk through realistic measurement goals before you request a quote.
Yes. Coach units ship with your choice of two-tone color combinations for the enclosure and display trim. Pick colors in step 4 (Covers) of the online quote builder.
Maestro units include the standard MyMatR cover design at no extra charge. Maestro (only) also supports custom branded artwork, digitally printed on all four sides of the cover. Download the Illustrator template and upload your PDF in step 4 (Covers); each unique custom design is quoted separately. See pricing in the quote builder sidebar as you configure your order.
Use the online quote builder to configure units, review pricing, and download your quote. When you accept your quote, you pay 100% of devices and data packages ($500 per unit per year for Portal access and connectivity; year 1 is billed with your initial order) plus a required $100 shipping and packaging down payment to start manufacturing. Volume discounts apply at 25, 50, and 75 units (5%, 10%, and 15% off hardware). Card and ACH payments include a 3% processing fee shown on your quote. You can also email mymatr@mymatrcorp.com for help. See our Terms of Service for full payment and delivery steps.
Your upfront order includes a $100 shipping and packaging down payment with your unit payment. After your units are built, MyMatR shares photos or a short approval video (live video call on request) for your approval. Packaging and final shipping are invoiced separately after approval. Pay that invoice by card, ACH, or wire; your down payment is credited toward it. Units ship after the shipping invoice is paid.
Yes. MyMatR provides a six-month limited warranty, starting on delivery, for defects in materials or workmanship under normal use. For coverage beyond the warranty, add the optional Extended Service Plan when you build your quote. Year 1 is billed on your initial order when selected; coverage begins when the six-month warranty ends.
An optional plan at $100 per unit per year, selectable on your quote. Year 1 is billed on your initial order when selected; coverage begins when the six-month warranty ends. If a unit has a covered failure in normal operation, MyMatR ships replacement hardware. This is not a spare-parts purchase program. If you do not have the Extended Service Plan, the six-month limited warranty applies first; after that, repairs and replacements are available at additional cost.
Yes. Video and remote technical support are included during the six-month warranty and, after that, with an active Extended Service Plan.
Typically 90 days after your unit payment is received. For orders above 20 units, we confirm a delivery timeline with your quote.
Possibly. This will depend on manufacturing cycles and will incur additional fees for rush delivery.
AI and Functionality
We aim for above 90% deposit accuracy. Waste streams keep changing, though: new packaging, regional materials, and different site environments show up all the time. Our AI improves continuously through human-reviewed image feedback and model updates so performance stays strong as those conditions change.
The AI continuously improves through a combination of human-reviewed image feedback and machine learning updates.
Treatment of contaminated materials is configurable in the MyMatR Portal. Coach and Maestro use the same settings. Customers can choose to recover recyclables or divert all mixed waste to landfill depending on their operational goals.
No. Coach and Maestro support two stream sorting only. Two streams cover the vast majority of disposal decisions and keep sorting fast, accurate, and reliable.
Connectivity and Updates
Every device includes cellular connectivity. If Wi-Fi or cloud connectivity is unavailable, units continue operating, capturing data locally, and syncing when the connection is restored.
No, but connection is key. Coach and Maestro continue local identification and feedback without Wi-Fi or cellular. Maestro also continues local sorting offline. Deposit data stores locally when needed and syncs to the Portal when a connection returns. Portal access and software updates require network connectivity when available. Every unit also includes cellular connectivity as a backup path.
Updates are delivered to devices automatically over the air whenever a network connection is available. You can track device software in the MyMatR Portal.
Yes. Customers can provide Wi-Fi credentials before delivery for pre-setup. For IT requirements such as MAC addresses, contact the sales team.
Each unit's annual package includes a $100 cellular data credit. That is sized for typical US use, but actual usage depends on location and how the unit connects. Units operating internationally or in areas with higher carrier rates may use the credit faster; you can add more credit if needed.
No. The annual package is a flat price regardless of connection type, and Portal access lasts only while the annual package is active.
Device Details
It depends on what you're looking for. Choose Coach when you want AI identification and on-bin education that guides people toward the right stream. Choose Maestro when you also want the bin to automatically sort each item into one of two customer-configured streams. Both products are two-stream systems and send deposit data to the MyMatR Portal. Compare details on the Hardware page, or contact us if you want help matching a product to your objectives.
Coach
Coach is an AI-powered two-stream bin that identifies materials and provides real-time educational feedback on a digital display. It helps people make better disposal decisions at the source. Coach does not automatically move items between streams. See Hardware for dimensions and details, or the product-fit FAQ for Coach versus Maestro.
The Coach is 50” tall, 38” wide, and 20” deep. It weighs about 100 lbs.
Visual animations and messages that guide correct disposal decisions.
Maestro
Maestro is an AI-powered automatic sorting bin that identifies materials, provides educational feedback, and separates items into two customer-configured waste streams. Sorting typically completes in under three seconds per item. See Hardware for dimensions and details, or the product-fit FAQ for Coach versus Maestro.
The Maestro is 54” tall, 38” wide, and 20” deep. It weighs approximately 200 lbs.
Under 3 seconds per item.
Operation and Maintenance
Plan for a constant AC power outlet (110–240V), enough floor clearance for the unit footprint and service access, and your preferred network path (Wi-Fi and/or cellular). We can walk through a site-readiness checklist with you before shipment. Contact us with your facility details.
Customers typically receive, unbox, place, and power the unit on site. MyMatR provides remote and video technical support during the six-month warranty and with an active Extended Service Plan. We can review placement and go-live steps with your team before delivery. Contact us if you need a guided install plan.
Units use standard internal bins with liners sized for the configured streams. Current liner guidance depends on your Coach or Maestro configuration.
Constant AC power, 110 to 240V, for both the Coach and the Maestro.
Under 10 watts for both the Coach and the Maestro.
Periodic wipe-downs of internal surfaces and sort plates are recommended. Bins should be fully washed annually without liners in place.
Covered or semi-protected locations can work. Fully exposed outdoor placement is not recommended as our current standard. Prefer indoor installs when possible, and contact us before planning an outdoor site.
Yes, we ship internationally when the order and destination requirements are confirmed. Coach and Maestro run on constant AC power at 110–240V. Plug type, local electrical standards, and whether a unit arrives ready to use or needs local adaptation depend on the destination.
Units ship in protective packaging after your pre-ship approval photos or video. On delivery, inspect the exterior packaging and the unit for visible damage before accepting the shipment, photograph any issues, and contact us promptly if something looks wrong. We can share packing details for your order during the shipping approval step.
